The Arachnids

At first glance, The Arachnids may appear to be your standard dark-tinged, eight legged creature looking to ride the coat tails of the third Spider-Man film. Well firstly, it was the worst of the three and secondly, anyone trying to associate the emo scene where Toby Maguire flicks his hair around like a swing dancer with The Arachnids' music will be sorely mistaken.
The fact that there are only eight legs in The Arachnids is purely coincidental. The music is what will inject you with dancing venom and wrap cobwebs around your soul ... (too much?!?)
Having played in venues throughout Queensland over the last year, 2010 see The Arachnids enter a new phase. The keyman, Lachlan Wallace, is stepping up to the plate bringing his own brand of old-school funk lyrics and melodies to The Arachnids mix. At times confused with Ray Thistlewait (when he was cool), John Butler (before he cut his hair) or Lenny Kravitz (before he became black ... hang on!), Lachlan embodies the best qualities and worst personality traits of them all, while still doing his own thing, as he always does.
Our fluid and smooth bassist, Poutama Hobman provides the sweetest grooves and most solid harmonies. He once thought about answering that add in Rave that asked for Paul McCartney mixed with Brian Wilson for a bass player with high vocals, and then decided against it.
Callum Stevens cuts his chops as the newest member of The Arachnids with his slicing and dicing guitar riffs and grounding licks. Some might say he's Dave Navarro. Other's might not.
Lastly, the animal-like Sam Oliver has the hardest time trying to hit things with other things when he is swinging from his drum stool. He was once called Sir Love, but it wasn't a very apt title - you can make your own conclusions.
While comparisons may be fun, they really mean nothing. See The Arachnids live and make the comparison for yourself.
