Formed in Woolloomooloo in 2004, "BhangLassi" was born out of the writing duo of Chris Bond and Matt Dewsnap when they stumbled across an old acoustic guitar while drunk. After reacquainting and learning how to play the thing, they began immediately writing original songs together. It wasn’t long before their first song “Geezers and Breezers” floated up into the night sky from the “Feng Shui Suite” – a 2 metre square courtyard which constituted their back garden, complete with a single flowering sweet potato.

They were later joined by neighbour, Michael Cracroft ("Spoona") on drums, Alex Bell on keys and finally Marcus Miles on bass, who they met by chance on a remote NSW beach. "The Lassi" as they are sometimes known, are now a five piece indie/pop/ska band taking the Sydney live music scene by surprise and by storm...

Raising the roof at the Hopetoun Hotel, The Annandale, Will and Toby’s and the Cat and Fiddle, BhangLassi are gaining a reputation for pulling an ever-growing crowd of happy punters with their energetic live performances.

Their songs, infused with energy and ironic, gritty humour are addictively catchy and elegantly constructed.

Drawing on a wide range of musical influences (rock, pop, ska, dance and reggae) and a focus on original songwriting, they have a distinctive, upbeat sound that has been getting eyebrows lifting, feet tapping and grins, well, grinning all across the city...

Liked the energy of the sound and the bite of the lyrics. Rock with embedded grittiness

Great energy, catchy and tightly produced - would think this would make a great radio track. Who are these dudes, anyone know?
