"...drawing influence from classicists such as Bob Dylan, while keeping things progressive courtesy of modern folk heroes such as Elliot Smith. Untainted and innocent, Webb's songs are soul food for the masses." - Xpress Magazine, Perth, Western Australia
Ryan Webb And The Method are a folk-rock band based in Perth, Western Australia. Led by International Award Winning Singer/Songwriter Ryan Webb, they have built a solid reputation, and hard-earnt following, over several years as a performing and recording outfit, and have become one of the brightest hopes of Perth's buoyant folk-rock and alt-country circuit. Ryan was born and raised in the Great Southern region of rural Western Australia, however in the year 2000 (aged only 17), he relocated to the City of Perth to further his musical pursuits. Over the next few years, Ryan performed in several different bands, all the while maintaining a regular output with his solo eponymous endeavours, which have led to it becoming his primary present day concern. Since the addition of Brendan Gaspari (Guitar), Kristopher Webb (Bass), Salv Di Criscito (Drums) and Tristramm Corbett (Keys), Ryan Webb And The Method have become a formidable line-up who are renowned for their vibrant, rockin' live performances, building their reputation as an engaging and imaginative modern day act.
To date, Ryan has independently recorded and issued FOUR releases: 2008's eclectic fourteen-track debut album "Symphony Of Symmetry"; its subsequent 2009 singles "Tag Along With You" and "Sandcastles"; and most recently the latest single "Sing Me To Sleep", which, along with forthcoming single "Coming Home", will become the lead singles from the band's forthcoming second full length album (as yet untitled). Ryan has travelled and performed all over the world, racking up shows throughout the Americas (USA, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica), Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia) and as recently as 2011, he undertook a 5-week solo tour throughout Europe (UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium). He has also travelled and performed extensively throughout Australia, supporting and sharing the stage with a diverse range of acts such as The Waifs' Vikki Simpson (WA), The Superjesus' Sarah McLeod (NSW), Diesel (NSW), Bonjah (NZ/VIC), Matt Corby (NSW), Jordie Lane (VIC), Nathan Gaunt (WA), Peter Coombe (SA), Downsyde (WA), Kim Churchill (NSW), Marshall And The Fro (NSW) and Shaun Kirk (VIC), as well as sharing festival bills with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Clare Bowditch, Darren Hanlon, Passenger, and The Pigram Brothers. Ryan has also played shows with many renowned expatriate West Australians, such as Emily Barker, Catherine Traicos, Coby Grant and Morgan Joanel.
As a songwriter, Ryan has achieved much acclaim, having picked up awards and nominations on an international, national and local scale. Most notably, Ryan won the UK's Annual Worldwide International "Festival4Songs" Song Contest, in the "Singer/Songwriter" category, for his track "Midnight Drive", from his debut album "Symphony Of Symmetry". This contest involved four rounds of esteemed panellist judging (including the Bee Gee's Robin Gibbs, who awarded the track 10 out of 10), and also a worldwide online public vote. By virtue of winning this contest, Ryan was flown to write and record in London with hit songwriters such as Tim Fraser (Tina Turner) and Jez Ashurst (Cliff Richard), and also collaborate with songwriters from all over the globe, including Benjamin Olson (Nashville, USA) and Graham Miley (Dublin, Ireland). Here is a shortlist of some of Ryan's other songwriting accolades:
